Preseason 2: Stamps 21 – Riders 23

The score was much more forgiving than the play actually dictated. But then again, this is the CFL. The Calgary Stampeders were badly outplayed for the entire 1st half when many of their first team players were in the game. The offence was horrific as the O-Line were taken to school and Henry Burris managed 62 total yards in the first half.

Even the defense fared about the same, surrendering big yards on seemingly routine plays.

Albeit, the D managed to keep Saskatchewan out of the endzone despite numerous visits to the red zone. The second half fared much better for the Stamps as the team shuffled a bit. Akilli Smith managed the offence well and brought the team back to within striking distance with some nice passes to all the WR. Borighter and Ralph had TD's.

All in all, a number of bruised bodies (particularly the Oline) came out of the hot affair between the two West division rivals. One can expect a far better product from the offence come opening game next Saturday against Hamilton at home. Certainly there will be much talked about in the week leading up. Who will be cut, who stays, who fills in for some vacant spots from injuries and so forth.

The next week should be interesting, but seriously now, I want to see this domination everyone is talking about. Have we perhaps set standards too high already?
