Football season has started in Canada with some interesting games and rule changes. Things got started in the East with BC visiting Toronto. T-dot dominated early but couldn't score, in fact it was the battle of the special teams that took over in the first half.
BC eventually found their Grey Cup form and took the second half. Michael Bishop factored late in the fourth quarter that should fuel a QB controversy in Toronto. In the end BC walks away with a 24-22 win.
In the West Winnipeg visited Edmonton with some records on the line. Milt Stegall was ready to tie George Reed and Mike Pringle for the most touchdowns. He would factor late in the fourth quarter with some nice grabs on the final drive and managed to score his TD. Charles Roberts had 4 TD's on the night while most of the points (3 TD's each) were sored in the first half.
This game would go to OT where nothing was solved in the first min-game. Poor place-kicking would prove the downfall for not one, but both teams, as the final plays that could have won the game were missed field goals by both Fleming and Westwood.
That wraps up opening night. The new rules for blocking on kick returns has blown open an exciting return game. Other than that, no monstrous changes to report. Calgary opens Saturday at home. Hopefully it's not blacked out (but if you have satellite you can get the game on CBC).
