Offense Emerges in Second Half to Combine for Win

November 15, 2008 · 1 Comment

64 total yards, that was it, for the first half. 3 first downs, dropped balls, no interceptions, zero running game, and that about sums up the first half. Calgary can thank their defense for preventing any major scores which kept the game close. A late touchdown from Burris to Rambo gave the hometeam life and also put them within a fieldgoal from the lead. If you erase the first half, the second half numbers were better, still had problems, but the simple matter is they got the job done.

Credit the front four of BC for keeping the run in check, however, the supposed 'All-Stars' of the CFL were incapable of beating the rookie offensive line of Calgary. henry Burris was given plenty of time to throw the ball and if it weren't for BC secondary coverage he would have had bigger gains. Although there were four sacks the Oline beat the 'ALL STARS' of BC.

The running game was never sprung for huge gains, but Reynolds touched the ball and usually gained between 2-5 yards, enough for some room to open the play book for second down plays.

Calgary got things rolling midway through the third quarter on an extended drive that was capped off by a Henry Burris one-yard plunge. This came after his interception that lead to a BC field goal, which could have been much worse. Credit Burris for keeping the offense producing, although penalties at ill-opportune times cost Calgary progress.

Momentum changed for good late in the forth as it became clear that Calgary's D was going to hold the fort and the offense did enough to keep the offense of BC off the field. Although, the one huge bone headed play, apart from the interception, (no fumbles though), was the last play where Burris tried to kill seven seconds by throwing the ball in the air.

One second left, which meant a chance for BC, which in reality was very very close, too close, but at the end of the day Burris stood tall despite setbacks and got the monkey off his shoulder. What he needs to do now is win a Grey Cup for the resume.

The streaker killed the momentum. Idiot, hope he gets jail time.

Hufnagel should have told BUrris to run around a bit THEN throw = no one second for BC and me biting my nails.

Or PUNT it out of bounds. Hang time = 4 seconds at least.
