Cocky BC Lions Loose
Special teams played an important role in the field position battle that saw Calgary only scrimmage behind their own 20 three times. Summers and Howell both combined for almost 250 return yards, most by Summers on the kick off. Everytime he touched the ball there was a subsequent Calgary offensive scrimmage on the 40. Starting near mid-field everytime certainly took the pressure off of Calgary.
Game ball to Summers, but also Dales for quality punting pinning BC deep. Only one punt return was blown for a big return by Ian Smart. However, Ruffin, who was supposed to be in the middle on coverage, but was tripped by the BC player.
Sandro Deangelis missed a field goal later in the forth that would have given Calgary some breathing room had BC tied the game (would have forced overtime). His miss wasn't important in hindsight but expect him to be perfect against Montreal especially in the climate controlled dome.
So long as no big mistakes are made, the special teams won't be a concern, but you just get the feeling that someone is going to break out for a TD in the Grey Cup.
