Old John Hufnagel Coach of the Year 2008

March 5th, 2009 · No Comments

A professional winning attitude, great players, and a dash of good coaching, capped off the Calgary Stampeders winning season with Coach John Hufnagel's award for Coach of the Year. Coach Huf took a Calgary team that showed glimpses of greatness in the past two seasons, and glimpses of mediocrity for what seemed like the entire 2000's, to win the Grey Cup in his first CFL head coaching season.

Props to Coach Huf, his staff of coaches, and to the Stamps. We can only expect more of the same this upcoming year, plus the game is at home. The bar has been set, let's hope the team can deliver again.

Dave Dickenson Retires from Football

February 4th, 2009 · No Comments

Finishes Where he Began

The Calgary Stampeders have announced that quarterback Dave Dickenson has retired after 11 seasons in the CFL. Dickenson, 36, had his career cut short by concussion problems in recent years and only attempted just nine passes with the Stamps this past year.

Dickenson was named the league's most outstanding player in 2000 and won three Grey Cups in his career, being named championship game MVP in 2005. He passed for 22,913 yards and 154 touchdowns with 50 interceptions in a career spent with the Stampeders and the B.C. Lions. He completed 66.9 per cent of his passes, which puts him first on the all-time CFL list for retired players.

MOP: Avon Colbourne Disses Stampeders

November 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

Earth to Avon Colbourne, you dissed Calgary on national TV by calling the MOP all star runner ups 'babies' and in your cocky swagger pronounced Montreal the winners of the Grey Cup midway through the second quarter. Sir, you are an idiot. Sure, there is a course of action that transpires during the regular game, lots of chit chat on the field and ways to get the team motivated, but wow, how bad is it to spout your mouth off and get bit in the butt like COlbourne?

October 9th, 2008 · No Comments

Al Cameron is reporting that Pilon was taking all first team reps which is good news for the O-line (given their average performance Saturday). Also bodes well for the running game and Joffrey Reynolds....no wait, we don't do that running thing anymore.
