On June 18th the Calgary Sun continued their eighth grade media coverage by kicking up fuss over new tail-gaiting rules at McMahon Stadium. The article was essentially complaining the the Stamps were going to crack down on the 'fun' for the sake of a few drunks. I've been to all pro-games in Calgary and can say with safety that the Stampeder experience is the most raw. Cheaper tickets and pro games = more drunk fans cursing and cussing by your kids. The Stamps want to curtail this behaviour and I say high five.

Moved to DB, then to safety, and still waiting reps at wide receiver, Markus Howell carries two playbooks around this year. Here are some more posts on his fight to stay with the team.

Markus Howell Moved to DB
June 3rd, 2008 · 1 Comment
We've been away for holidays hence the lack of posts during the camp. Here are some more updates. Turns out talent of Markus Howell is keeping him around. He's not going to start as a receiver (Brett Ralph seems to have supplanted him). As special teams player he saw limited field. Now the coaches are throwing him at DB.
Markus Howell as he started the process of moving from receiver to defensive back and faces a steep learning curve. The transition is basically the smoothest one (when comparing positions on different sides of the ball). It's unclear weather he showed up at camp and was given the assignment or if he knew before hand and had time to prepare....

Pete Costanza from the arena league comes in to coach the receivers. Defensive coordinator Tim Burke stays with the club and remains a defensive coach. Cortez is still around as well as O-coordinator. Creehan has been let go (the son).

Better late than never, but I have some breaking news. Yes, John Hufnagel is the new GM and coach of the Calgary Stampeders. The move comes as a shock to most Stamps fans but what can you do?
In other news, Mike Petrie from Stamps Insider is off to work in-house for the Stamps. So much for the cool videos we had....

How Eric Francis Disgraced the City and Tom Higgins
November 13th, 2007 · 1 Comment
Many people have thrown flak at Eric Francis, (sports columnist for the Calgary Sun and radio talk show host in the mornings for Jack FM,) saying he's neither a reporter nor a morning personality. One thing is for sure, he's not making friends in Calgary after his latest ploy. Typically media types from the city work to protect the local teams especially against the opposition--and especially when they're in an important playoff game.
Not so for Francis. For reasons only he can answer, Francis published a column 2 weeks ago calling a story originally placed in the Calgary Herald months earlier his own and directly starting a wild fire of controversy that consumed the media in the days leading up to what would be the final playoff game for the Calgary Stampeders.

Creehan Fired – Stamps Move to Tim Burke
October 1st, 2007 · No Comments
A bit of a surprise comes out of the Stamps locker room today. It appears the firing squad has moved to take the life of the defensive coordinator following Calgary's buttkicking against BC Saturday. Denny Creehan has been fired, of course, this doesn't mean the defence will get better. I'm wondering what would be if the organization had invested a bit more cash on the defensive line......

Clean and Legal – Moreno Hit Welcomed in CFL
September 24th, 2007 · No Comments
Rather than place a post laced with profanity I thought I'd post the Stamps Insider post on the latest league non-action against the Moreno for his blatant and late hit on Burris. The league goofed up; I don't think a suspension was in the cards by any means, but to call it normal is a slap in the face.
