Just to let you know that unless there is a huge story before a game we're going to defer to the Stampeders.com website for all pre-game info since they do a bangup job. No point duplicating the same stuff. So check them out for previews, and we'll post up interesting stories if they're brewing pre-game.

The Calgary Stampeders are reporting that Jeff Pilon has signed a multi-year extension with the team. This is good news as Pilon as one of the top Canadian--actually top offensive lineman--in the league. He'll shore up the line with the two rookies starting to solidify their place on the team.
Jeff Pilon comments on the signing.

Calgary Blows Hapless Tigercats
I'm not a cat person, more of a hound kinda guy myself. Lucky for me the Hamilton version of cat is without bite, scratch, claw, not even a whimper of a meow. Despite showing a touch of promise in the first two games of the season, the Hamilton Tiger Cats were mauled to death by a hungry Calgary team. Without their starting tailback Jesse Lumsden the Ticats were seemingly not a team. Things pretty much started how they ended for Hamilton--in the gutter.

No point re-writing stories. But Ben Sankey, after deemed fit enough to play, was released by Calgary. Turns out Winnipeg doesn't want to pay anything for another QB even though they may need the help.... Hopefully someone gives him a shot cause he could put up some numbers.

After a sporadic effort against Edmonton the Calgary Stampeders looked to redeem themselves against the unbeaten Alouettes who have shown promise early in the CFL season.
First Half:
The Stamps came out in similar fashion as they did in Edmonton. Montreal went the entire half with only one 2 and out and that was at the end of the half. Otherwise, it was all Montreal connecting for huge plays, tortching the secondary and taking their sweet time getting off plays. There was little successful pressure and the usual suspects a la Calvin Bannister was beat for Montreal's only first half touchdown. The only upside the defensive play was the single major for Montreal, but other than a Duval missed field goal, the score could have been much worse going into half-time.

In a stunning display of ineptitude, poor preparation, and rookie mistakes, Calgary summed up their defensive abilities by taking a massive step backwards.
The new coaching staff was supposed to put their Stamp on the new team by making the right decisions. Right off the bat key vets Trey Young and Terrence Patrick were cut. The move was partly to do with being beat out at DE (Patrick now in Hamilton), and because the Stamps wanted a 'better' middle linebacker (Young now in Edmonton and Grootegoed who replaced him hasn't played a game yet.) Turns out after the three injuries in game one (2 DE's and 1 LB) and one today (1 DE), the moves will end up hurting Calgary in a big way at least in the short-term.
Calvin Bannister = Major Liability
Last seasons victims were kept, vets Clemons let go at DB and short but 'quick' Bannister kept. I counted at least 12 plays where Bannister was beat clean for huge gains and touchdowns. Questionable how the team is 'better'. New schemes, new coaches, somethings amiss, because Calgary was hammered tonight in Edmonton.
