The Calgary Stampeders announce the free agent signing of Running Back Jon Cornish. Cornish was the Stampeders 1st pick in 2006. This past season he finished his senior season with the University of Kansas Jayhawks where he recorded 250 carries for 1,457 yards and eight touchdowns. He would also record 24 receptions for 194 yards.
Defensively, Cornish was credited with 152 career tackles, including 89 his senior season and holds his high school career record with 37 quarterback sacks. The British Columbia native earned a combined eight letters in football, basketball and track and was a three-time most valuable player in football. He was selected the British Columbia Provincial Player of the Year, helping his team to three conference championships and the Burnaby Bowl Championship for three years.
Singh Arrives, Robertson Departs to Argos
With newly arrived Singh passing his physical, Calgary shipped off the younger Taylor Robertson from the O-Line to the Toronto Argonauts in exchange for a first round pick in this year's draft. The addition of Singh in the line-up gives us more experience in the front. The return of a first round pick is questionable given the talent pool of this year's college draft.
