As per the Stampeders, the club has made some roster moves:

The following players have been released:

International receiver Reggie Begelton
International receiver A.J. Cruz
National defensive lineman Ben D’Aguilar
International offensive lineman Devonte Danzey
National offensive lineman Felix Gacusana
International quarterback Mitchell Gale
International running back Jacobi Green
International defensive lineman Kingsley Ibeh
International defensive back Tre Jones
International defensive lineman Jeff Luc
International offensive lineman Antoine McClain
International linebacker Evan McKelvey
International offensive lineman Mike McQueen
International receiver Jamal Nixon
International defensive back Joel Ross
National defensive back Chris Rwabukamba
International receiver Kevin Smith

Notable releases are Ben D’Aguilar, who’s been with the club for four years, mostly in special teams duty. Mitchell Gale lost the battle for the third string QB to Stanzi. That wasn’t a surprise given his brief performance in the second exhibition game vs the Eskimos.

A lot of the players released showed promise, but when you only have a few touches a game to make an impact, that can make all the difference. Tough to see Reggie Begelton released. Players who are hurt can be released in camp. He took a shot against BC despite putting up great receiving numbers. Two returners also released including Cruz and Green. One would think that one of those players was offered a roster spot but declined.

Season opens in less than a week! A week early compared to the old July 1st Canada Day start.
